Company Overview

MIKON Systems, Inc.

MIKON Systems supplies integrated production information systems for manufacturers across industries. Our system products facilitate improvements in product quality and cost and establish data links between the factory and business (ERP) systems and the production supply chain.

Using MIKON and INTEKON software, MIKON Systems constructs a real time production data warehouse server at each production center to capture critical performance measurements and baseline product specifications of production flow. These measurements are shown to operators and production supervisors as green, yellow, or red values on charts, graphs and reports reflecting the context of product specifications and manufacturing recipes. They are also maintained historically in the database (based on Oracle or CA-Ingres) for comparative long-term analysis and customer service. Because our software system organizes production data in a way that facilitates improvements in production processes we call it Software for Continuous Improvement of Quality and Cost®. Batch/Lot genealogy is recorded and maintained in the database for production traceability from raw materials through finished products/shipments using manual or available automated entries.

MIKON/Client at work

MIKON Systems delivers production data warehouses that are the "system of record" for performance measurement and reporting, the database for supplying production information to end customers, and the knowledge repository for production capability and continuous process improvement. System implementations follow our proven Application Integration Model.

9-Step Application Integration Model

1
Process & Data Model Analysis
Document the production flow and map to the generic production database model reflecting user's nomenclature. Identify workflow and key measurements, batch/lot relationships and decision rules for the production process.
Optional prototype.
2
System Functional Specifications
Document critical application functions and any requirements for custom user interfaces or data presentations.
3
System Interface Specifications
Document any custom interface functions for legacy applications.
4
Configuration Team Training
Educate system owners in application setup and system management.
5
Data Warehouse Configuration
System owners establish data content and access authorizations.
6
User Display/Report Configuration
System owners layout data presentations and report formats and frequencies.
7
Integrated System Test
Pre-startup test and debug of integrated system components.
8
System Start-up
System owners implement end-user training (and optionally parallel test with replaced systems).
9
Ongoing Software and Computer Environment Support
Continuous support and update service for the system, including optional 24 by 7 technical support and on-call integrated system services (ISS).

Data Connections Made Simple

Production data warehouses require data from diverse sources to be successful, including manual (end-user) entries and real time computer applications. INTEKON integration software gathers, reformats and relays relevant data messages from each production event, and reliably transports needed data from one enterprise application to another based on the production model. INTEKON software contains a range of application interface facilities, permitting reliable and cost effective messaging with primitive devices and file structures as well as complex applications with application program interfaces (API's) and bi-directional messaging dialogue.

MIKON Systems removes the risk and much of the expense of traditional "design from scratch" production data warehouse development efforts. Here are a few examples of how success is assured:

  • Customers "configure" a generalized data model of production to describe their production measurements, workflow, and specifications using graphical displays. There is no "database schema design" step on an empty relational database that can consume or destroy the data warehouse development project. The project is much more focused on data content, not the implementation technology.
  • Real time system interfaces are already "off the shelf" for most applications, and inexpensively provided for legacy applications. The interfaces don't "fall apart" after the data warehouse project is completed. A continuous support framework is provided to assure reliability and continuous availability of the mission critical system.
  • Our Process Data Model Analysis focuses the production data warehouse development on continuous improvement and end-customer satisfaction. From raw materials through production processes to end-customer feedback, workflow and information flow are synchronized in a composite picture of production activity.
